Peer Organized ⋅Peer Driven ⋅ Peer Run

Wellbeing Initiative, Inc.

Who We Are

Wellbeing Initiative Inc. is a non-profit organization developed, driven, and run by peers. By offering a variety of face to face trainings, peer-support opportunities, and community involvement. Wellbeing Initiative Inc. aims to encourage our community of peers to reach beyond themselves to find purpose and potential in the challenges we face.

We have recognized a need in our community and strive to meet that need through peer support education. Peer Support is an approach to recovery in which people with lived experience of mental health and substance use challenges learn and grow together in a recovery focused, strengths-based way.

Peer Support Specialists are people with lived experience with mental health and substance use challenges who have received intensive training and have completed the certification process to be a Certified Peer Support Specialist in the state of Nebraska. As a Peer Support Specialist they are able to promote wellness and recovery through mutual relationships.

Through this social connection, people with mental health and substance use challenges are encouraged to develop skills in a non-clinical environment that fosters the growth of natural support networks, strengths, and personal wellbeing. This, in turn, allows us to interact more fully with the community, navigate education, employment, and health resources more effectively, and exercise self-advocacy.
